I love applique! It’s such a great way to create an image.
In this section of Quiltblox – LEARN – I’ll explore the various applique techniques and share some of my own (and others) tips for getting started.
The quilt above is a small wall quilt I created during the pandemic while watching endless news reports about the social and political unrest across our nation and in my own community.
As quilters – many of us quilters sought to make sense of things by expressing our thoughts and our feelings in a quilt. There’s great power and healing in that process. I saw so many inspirational quilted projects created during this stressful time.
This small quilt uses raw edge applique as well as some machine and some hand embroidery. You’ll find lots of tools to help you with your own applique projects in the Hand Sewing and Books sections of my Shop.
I am working on a series of tutorials – each addressing different forms of applique – to help guide you on your way. As soon as I have them ready to go – you will find them accessible here. Be sure to sign up for my eNewsletter to get the announcement that they are available.
