Earlier this year, I submitted a design for a quilt to be featured in the magazine for the All New England Shop Hop. It’s a competitive process – Shop Hop Inc. chooses a handful of quilts to be featured out of all the submissions they receive for each event.
My design was selected! I’m one of 6 lucky designers to be featured in the magazine. I’ve had to keep it under wraps until the event started. The shop hop runs from September 1 – October 31, 2024.
We were provided with a group of themed fabrics and our task was to create a design that showcased the New England states – using only the fabrics provided.
The name of my quilt is Seasons in New England. I decided that I’d create a wall quilt (or runner) for this event. The fabrics perfectly showcased the different season in the New England States. It seemed appropriate to use them to create a wall quilt that reminded me of one of those long seasonal calendars. I’m thinking the 1950’s or early 60’s time frame.
It’s bordered on two sides with rows of the collectible blocks that each shop had available for shop hoppers. What a nice way to remember the Shop Hop event!
Seasons in New England was quilted by my friend Kim of Stitched in Purple. The quilting is beautiful!
It’s currently hanging at Crazy Moose Fabrics in Greenville, Maine. When the All New England Shop Hop is over – it’ll make its way back to me.
Stay tuned – I’ve been selected as a featured designer for one more Shop Hop Inc. event for 2024! I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on.
