It’s been a fun kick in the butt to get my studio clean and organized! It had gotten just a bit out of hand because of some big projects I’ve been working on. Those of you that know me well – know that clutter makes me pretty anxious. Everything needs its own place – and it needs to live there when not in use.
When Cheryl from Muppin.com put out the word that she was organizing a Spring Clean Your Studio Blog Hop – I knew that was just what I needed to get back on track. Our assignment was to take some “before” pictures – then clean and organize and take some after pictures. Challenge accepted. The pictures below are before I got busy.
It didn’t take me too long to get it cleaned up, once I got busy and focused on it. As you can see from the pictures – I have lots of cupboard storage space – and a good amount of counter space for such a small room.
So many bonuses with this 8′ – 13′ space! It’s in a building separate from our house so I can “go to work” and come home and leave it behind when I’m done. I have a bathroom a couple of steps away through the pocket door at the far end of the room. And I have a beautiful view of our backyard and the house.
Here are the “after” pictures – not a huge change but it sure feels a lot better to me.
So much better! Now I’ve got a free motion practice quilt ready to load onto my new Cutie frame and the counters are all clear. It really helps my head – and my creativity level to have everything – except what I’m working on – put away. If too many things are out – I get distracted and eventually I get stuck. better for me to put it all away behind closed doors.
Everyone has a different style of working – and what organization means to them. Be sure to check out the other participating Spring Clean Your Studio Participants. You may get some organization ideas for your own sewing space.
The chart below shows who is participating – and the day you can expect to see their before and after pictures on their blog. Just joining in? No problem – those of us that have already posted – still have the pictures up and available to you. Just click on the links and you’ll get to each persons site.
