Saturday, July 23rd, 2022. It was a beautiful day for a quilt show and the quilts were hung between the trees, ready and waiting for members, their family and friends, and the local community to enjoy.
Organized by The Metropolitan Patchwork Society (our local quilt guild – of which I am a member) this one-day show at Schiffler Park in Beaverton, gave members a chance to gather, visit and share what they’d been working on over the past year.
Living close enough to walk, it was the perfect opportunity to head to the park to see the show. As you’ll see from the pictures below – there were so many different kinds of quilts to look at.
I was struck by how interesting it is to look at the design of a quilt from farther away than we normally see them. When you are far enough away to no longer see the seams or the quilting – you begin to see the overall “image” the quilter has created. It’s an entirely different experience – not unlike looking at a painting very closely and then taking another look – standing 50 – 75 feet away.
I didn’t get a picture of every quilt in the show (so sorry if you are reading this and don’t see yours here). I kept getting distracted by seeing old friends I haven’t seen for quite some time. That’s another wonderful thing about quilts shows ; )
To everyone that entered a quilt (or several) – thank you so much for sharing your creativity and art with the community. I promise – I’ll have something ready to go for the next show.
