Book Review – The Wedding Dress Quilt by Jeffree Wyn Itrich
A gal I worked with many years ago was a voracious reader – and a published author of fiction. She told me once that you can tell if a book of fiction is going to be worth reading or not by opening it up to page 100 and reading that page. If the story grabbed you – go back and read it from the beginning. If not, put it back on the shelf and try another book.
Strange as it may seem – I think of that advice every time I pick up a new fictional book. I can’t tell you how many times I have done exactly as she said to do – turn to page 100 and read that page. It hasn’t failed me yet.
When the kind folks at CT Publishing sent me a copy of The Wedding Quilt to review – I immediately tuned to page 100. Someone’s getting a new mid-arm machine. Yes, please! So … back to the beginning of the book I went.
LA gal and award-winning quilter Lisbeth James was adopted at birth and although she grew up knowing she was adopted – she knew nothing of her birth family. All that changed when she received a letter from a Texas lawyer – letting her know that her grandmother had left her an inheritance. And that’s where her adventure begins.
I don’t want to say too much more about her adventures and the family she meets – because you should discover the story along with Lisbeth. What I will tell you is this – the characters in this lovely story have so much more room to grow and more stories to share. I can’t wait to see another installment in (what I hope will be) the series.
