So … It’s occurred to me that I may need a bit of assistance with needle threading when I’m hand stitching. I don’t seem to have any problems with threading the needle on my sewing machine. Now that I’m doing a lot more hand stitching – those tiny eyes in those tiny needles have become a challenge. Needle threaders have been on my shopping list.
I’ve gone looking for needle threaders and oh my goodness! There are so many options out there. The picture above shows some of the ones I’ve tried so far. I’ve had mixed success with each of them.
- The old-fashioned wire ones are super fragile and the foil pulls off easily.
- I love the hummingbird needle threader – but the part that goes through the eye of the needle can be a little too big for the size needles I’m using for my English Paper Piecing project.
- Sewline makes the fancy needle threader I picked up a few weeks ago while on vacation. It worked fine in the shop – but I think this particular version is for finer/smaller needles than I am using.
You may have noticed that I don’t yet have any needle threaders in the online shop. That’s because I haven’t found “the one” that I love using all the time. Maybe I need more than one type – based on what kinds of projects I’m working on. I’m pretty picky about the products I share with you and need to try most things before they hit the “digital” store shelves.
I’m hoping that you’ve had more luck and have found a needle threader that meets your needs. If you have – could I get the name of it – and a picture? I’m on a mission to find something that I love using all the time (especially since it looks like I’m going to be paper-piecing for a long time – it’s pretty addicting).
I’d love any recommendations you have! You can email me at Deb@Quiltblox.com. Whichever one(s) you recommend – I’d love to know why you like it. Thanks!
