I have a brand new pattern to share and it’s just in time to make up for fall. My inspiration? All those flocks of Canadian Geese migrating over our northwest Oregon home. It’s a pretty impressive sight and it made me think about migration from one place to another – and back again. I wanted to capture that feeling – without using traditional Flying Geese blocks.
The result – a design that’s decidedly more modern than what I usually do – and I love how it came out.
Migration is a quick and satisfying pieced project – perfect for batiks and those richly saturated prints – like the Fossil Fern from Benartex Fabrics that I used in making this quilt. I made up this quilt top in less than 12 hours. The blocks are easy to piece, and they all go together in a grid.
