Studio Art Quilts Associates presents – Emergence – From Concept to Stitch:
Artists from the Oregon region regularly connect, collaborate, and learn through SAQA’s many global and local activities. The vision for this project, Emergence: From Concept to Stitch, came out of that process. It began with discussions about exploring new and emerging media, marketing opportunities, book events, and gallery exhibitions for a body of work.
The result is a beautiful traveling exhibit. This is the eighth regional exhibit for the Oregon SAQA chapter and is accompanied by a full-color, professionally printed book. It features 21 artists, selected via a jurying process, who documented their creative processes over a period of 6 months as they each made an art quilt. The materials and techniques they used are diverse – from up-cycled textiles to hand-dyed fabrics to mixed media – and the subject matter explored is as unique as each artist.
Members of the Oregon SAQA chapter are partnering with the Multnomah Arts Center to offer a hands-on exploration of art quilt techniques on Friday, February 3rd. This event is free, open to the public, and enjoyable for all ages.
