The tulips and daffodils are in full bloom, and cherry blossoms have appeared from Portland to Tokyo. Spring showers are alternating with blue skies and the pollen in the air has me sneezing. It’s the perfect time to introduce you to my sparkly new Christmas pattern – Tis the Season.
I can hear you thinking – “Christmas – why now?” I have two great reasons (I promise ; )
First – All the fabric companies plan the release of their new Christmas fabrics for April and May. That’s when all these pretty holiday fabrics will be arriving in quilt shops everywhere. One of those companies – California-based Hoffman Fabrics liked my idea for a new pattern – and sent me the fabrics to make it. Those fabrics – called Christmas Splendor are available in three colorways (Traditional, Silver, and Gold).
Second – I want you to have time to make this project it so you can enjoy it – this year. Tis the Season is a pdf pattern so you can get started on it right away. The letters and shapes are raw edge, fusible applique, although you could add seam allowances and make it needle turn if you prefer.
Tis the season finishes at 18 x 49 inches. Hang it over a door, the fireplace, or a sideboard, it’s a fun project to make and will bring holiday cheer for years to come.
Have some fun with holiday fabrics. You could go very traditional like I did with this sample or choose fabrics that complement your decor. With all the beautiful holiday fabrics available in the shops – you can make this project all your own.
