I love a good shop hop! You probably already knew that : ) Earlier this year I submitted a design for a quilt to be featured in the magazine for the All Illinois Shop Hop. It’s a competitive process – Shop Hop Inc. chooses a handful of quilts to be featured out of all the submissions they receive for each event.
My design was selected! I’m one of 6 lucky designers to be featured in the magazine. I’ve had to keep it under wraps until the event started. The shop hop runs from August 1 – September 30, 2024.
We were provided with a group of themed fabrics and our task was to create a design that showcased the state of Illinois – using only the fabrics provided.
The name of my quilt – The Land of Lincoln. I’m not usually a big fan of panels – but the rich colors in this one spoke to me. I surrounded the panel with a border of flying geese and an outer border that’s meant to mimic a split rail fence. All in all – I think it works.
The Land of Lincoln was quilted by my friend Kim of Stitched in Purple. The quilting is tough to see in the picture above – but trust me – it’s beautiful!
It’s currently hanging at Sunshine Stitches in Belvidere, Illinois. When the shop hop is over – it’ll make its way back to me.
Stay tuned – I’ve been selected as a featured designer for more Shop Hop Inc. events! I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on.
