DESCRIPTION:Quilting practices can be found in almost every area of the world and it is celebrated on the third Saturday in March every year. The National Quilting Association started National Quilting Day in 1991 and since then it has grown into a global celebration (World Wide Quilting Day) for all quilt lovers and makers. With the dissolution of the National Quilting Association in 2015 – the sponsorship of National Quilting Day has been picked up by Quilt Alliance. \n\n\n\nHOW TO CELEBRATE (WORLD WIDE / NATIONAL) QUILTING DAY\n\n\n\n\nHang quilts outdoors – On World Wide Quilting Day\, quilts are hung outside the homes to educate and inspire people to join in celebrating this ancient creative skill and as a sign that you recognize this event and that you are observing it.\n\n\n\nShow your quilting skills – This holiday is a time to share your skills with others by offering to teach a simple quilt project and showing them how it’s done. You can decide to teach this to your relatives/family members\, schools\, neighbors\, friends\, or a youth group.\n\n\n\nMake it a service day – On this day\, you can work on a quilt for your favorite cause — either national or local projects. You can also check departments and facilities like the police and fire departments\, nursing facilities\, or children’s services to see if they have a need for quilts.\n\n\n\nOrganize a quilt history day or a quilt documentation project. Invite members of the community to share their quilts and documents the quilts for your state documentation project. If you don’t have a state project\, work with other quilters in the state to start one! A good place to start is with your local or state historical society\, or search the internet for quilt documentation projects.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare with a friend

DESCRIPTION:Presented by Quilters Anonymous – the theme this year is Surrounded by Color. It opens Friday\, March 13\, and continues through March 15. More than 400 quilts made by our members fill up the event center at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds\, 14405 179th Ave. SE in Monroe\, Washington. Here are the details: \n\n\n\nThe show opens at 10 am and is open until 5 p.m. Friday & Saturday\, March 13 & 14. On Sunday\, March 15\, the show is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door for $15\, good for all three days. Credit cards are accepted. Children 12 and under are free. Parking is free. Food and coffee are available at a reasonable cost.  \n\n\n\nThere are vendors offering fabric\, patterns\, sales\, sewing machines\, and a variety of other items that quilters love.  \n\n\n\nNEW! Silent Auction: 12 exceptional quilts\, donated by our members and chosen by a jury\, will be on display at the show and can be bid on through an online auction app \n\n\n\nDemonstrations by talented members and several of the vendors take place on the hour from 11 am to 3 pm Friday and Saturday and 11 am to 2 pm Sunday. \n\n\n\nMore information is available at quiltersanonymous.org. DESCRIPTION:The Mid-Valley Quilt Show is show is open to anyone wishing to enter a quilt of their making.  Our theme is – The Art of Quilting. Quilts may be entered for judging or for viewing only. Show judges have been certified by the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges. \n\n\n\nOur show is a display of members quilts never seen before in one of our shows. Members can opt to have their quilt judged by a nationally certified judge if desired. There will be a display of antique quilts\, a boutique of items for sale\, Quilt of Valor presentations and Cynthia Shaw of Fine Feathered Quilting as our featured quilter. There will be approximately 24 vendors\, a silent auction and food trucks. Friday\, 5/16/25\, 9 am – 5 pm and Saturday\, 5/17/25\, 9 am – 4 pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare with a friend

DESCRIPTION:Make plans to attend the Umpqua Valley Quilter’s Guild Quilt Show – Sampling Umpqua \n\n\n\nEvery quilt entered is a treasure. Every quilt has a story and they are all a piece of work of which to be proud. Your quilt can inspire others to complete their quilts; try new things\, as well as an opportunity to have friends\, family\, and the community enjoy it. \n\n\n\nFeatured Quilter: Scott Hansen. Scott is the Mad Color Scientist at Blue Nickel Studios which he runs from his rural home in the Pacific Northwest\, smack dab between the Cascade Mountains and the suburbs of Seattle. He has been quilting for more than half of his life now\, and doesn’t see fit to change that any time soon. Mostly self-taught\, Scott has found his bliss in the needle and cloth and the glorious combinations of color in this medium. He has designed and created quilts for many fabric manufacturing companies and has had many other quilt designs featured in many leading quilt magazines. He speaks and teaches locally and regionally\, sharing his designs and color philosophies. He graduated from Washington State University with honors in English\, but quilting and textiles have become his passion. \n\n\n\nHonored Quilter: Connie Hector\, this  year’s Honored Quilter\, Connie began sewing at the age of 12\, starting with clothing and later expanding to home décor items. After retiring in 2016 from her career as a physical therapist and public education administrator\, she embraced quilting as a creative outlet—a craft she first discovered in 1986 while still working. This newfound passion led her to collect fabrics and create quilts for family and friends. Her dedication to the art prompted her to invest in a long-arm quilting machine affectionately named “Millie” after her mother-in-law. \n\n\n\nJoining the Umpqua Valley Quilters’ Guild provided Connie with inspiration and the opportunity to explore a variety of patterns and techniques.
